Insecurity is deeply human. There's nothing wrong with it inherently, but if you let it control how you treat others, then it will be detrimental. Taking the reigns on insecurity is the best thing one can do for themselves, to hold it instead of it holding you.

5'3" father-in-law humiliated at son's wedding when bride points out his small stature during vows, he won't let it go the next day: 'He showed up to our apartment to continue his tirade'
Insecurity is a necessary evil. Everyone is insecure about one thing or the other. Maybe it's their hair, feet, intellect, or family life. We all have insecurities, it's part of being human. But some of us let our insecurities dictate our behavior, opinions, relationships, and ultimately our lives more than others. Sometimes it can be surprising to find out that some of the most beautiful or intelligent people are actually deeply insecure. Because insecurity isn't based on external beauty or validation, it's incredibly personal, dating back to our childhood usually. I had a friend who was so beautiful with long gorgeous red hair, but she was one of the most insecure people I've ever met. It wasn't about how many strangers compliment her, she just didn't feel valuable.
In this story, the protagonist's father-in-law is the one harboring insecurities. He's easily humiliated when she points out his small stature at her wedding while giving her vows. Albeit, it wasn't unprompted. He was nearly asking for it when he tried to take the mic from her to make her stop talking. So see for yourself how insecurity plays a part in something supposed to be convivial, such as a wedding.
